Kia Ora bloggers, Today my blog is going to be about Mindfulness. So we would have
Mindfulness every Wednesday or Tuesday for a few weeks. But this week was our last Mindfulness sesion. Before we started our lesson we had to say what Mindfulness is. Which is: Mindfulness is Paying Attention to the Here and Now, With Kindness, Curiosity and Patience. Now it is time to start. First we had to get into our mountain pose and take some deep breaths to get started. 

Next we had to breath in and out but we had to roll ourselves and drop to see between  our legs. Then we had to roll into a ball and to squeeze our muscles. Then after that we did heaps of other stuff like lying down, Finding our breath, Listening to the sounds around us and getting into buddies and telling each other our favorite things.

Summer learning Journey

                                         SLJ 2020 

Kia Ora Bloggers, Today I did a amazing colouring thing on the website called Art Colouring Book. On the Art Colouring book is where you colour in a drawing realistic. I chose a wave. Try and guess and have a look and try and guess which is me and which was is the real. 

Intermediate visit

Kia Ora blogger, Guess where the year 6 went? we went to Waikowhai Intermediate to meet our teacher for next year. So I was in room 14 with 2 other people from my school which were Madison and Rael. In room 14 our teacher was Mrs Rodan. So before we got into our classes we had to know which class we were in. The David King(Principle) gave a  greeting and let the other teacher call our the students name and follow the teacher to your classroom. 

In my class we had to get our name tag and put it on a table. Then Mrs Rodan told us the thing that we were going to do next year like all of the activities and other stuff. Then we had to fill in a piece of paper of getting to know you. Then we got some  Camp and other information. 

My favorite part was when we got to see the different things that the Intermediate like music lesson and more other sports than primary.

I really liked learning about Waikowhai Intermediate and the different things. I can't wait to be in Intermediate next year.

Awesome Skateboarding

                         Awesome Skateboarding 

Kia Ora and Welcome bloggers. Guess what we did this week on Friday? We got to do some skateboarding (which is much more better than maths and reading). So there were two guys called Ben and Laurence who come from Young Gun Skateboarding School. Ben and Laurence taught us some new tricks on our skateboards. The things that were great about the lessons was that we got to learn new skills. We played Mr Wolf, tried not to not fall over, nose and tail parts, how to crab walk, ride a skateboard, being able to use the whole court, leaning how to tik tack on the skateboard, balancing on the skateboard and many more stuff to do on the skateboard. The thing that was challenging for me was that it was hard for me to try not crash into somebody and another thing was that I kept on falling off my board when I was doing some of the tricks coaches told us to do. What I have gained from learning to ride a skateboard is that we were working as a team, encouraging others, know that you can do this and making it a success. Then after we had some free time on our skateboards and going on the ramps. We all had so much fun learning how to ride skateboards with Laurence and Ben and we hope we keep on doing skateboarding. We also hope you get to ride one too.

Production 2020

 Kia Ora Blogger If you didn't see our production then read this and this will tell you all about it. Today's

blog is about our 2020 production. In week 5 of term four, we did our production which was held at Waikowhai Intermediate, called Jasmine and Aladdin .  We have been doing our production practice for 13 weeks which was pretty hard but we managed to get through the 13 practices. So in our production we had 9 scenes and we had 4 main characters . In week 1 to 4 we would have our practices after lunch break and sometimes after school. But on week 4 it was a little bit different because we would walk down the Waikowhai Intermediate to have a whole school practice and a dress rehearsal. 

In week 5 our shows are on Wednesday night, Thursday night and Friday morning. In the production I was the backstage crew which was someone who moves the props for the next part of the show. 

After the show I felt very proud of everyone because we put a lot of effort in to our show and we all worked as a team.

The thing that was  hard for me was that I was getting mixed up with who was moving what for the next part. The easiest thing for me was that we worked as a team and helped each other out.

My favorite scene was scene 9 (Sultan's palace) because that scene was when Omar learned respect . He was never to be seen again and everyone was happy.

Wonder Project

                            Wonder Project 

Kia ora! Today's blog is about our final launch for our Wonder challenge. So on Thursday

 28 of October, we had our final launch. So in the morning we only had until 10 a clock to finish our final design and our final flight. Once it was 10:00 we all had put our stuff down and tidy up our space and get the launcher and a bucket of water and head out to the field. We were all in different groups. My group was called Rocketoplist and in my group was TJ(Chief science), Peitynn(me and Chief engineer), Indie( Team captain), Arielle(Safety officer). We were the second team to launch. Once it was our we put 250 ml in our rocket and pumped it up to 60 PSL. We had to put it in an angle so that it couldn't hit a tree or a house. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 blast off!! Our rocket travel 5.60 meters long and it was so amazing!!! We all had so much fun launching our rockets and we wanted to do another rocket challenge next time.

Baksetball

Hello bloggers, on the 9th of September we had our first day of having basketball lessons. So we would

have our basketball lessons on Wednesdays. On our first day of our basketball lesson, we had two coaches which were Mikey(who played for the Lakers) and Ronan. Mickey and Roman taught us some beginners skills. The skill that he taught us were in and out, Cross over, toilet and nutmeg. Then after that we had to dribble around and when Mickey or Roman calls our one of the skills we have to do it. Also every week we would do something different. For this weeks Wednesday we went onto our basketball court and we each got a ball and lined up on the white line. Once we all got a ball Ronan and Mikey would give us numbers either 1 or 2. 1s would go with Roman to do some shoots and number 2s would go with Mickey to go and do some layer ups. Then at the end of the lessons we would play a game which was called Number basketball. We all had so much fun with our coaches and we are happy that we had basketball lessons .

Mono Print (Art)

During week 6 at the start of school everyday we would do a rotation of film festival and art. So today I am going to be blogging about what we did in art.
We were creating mono prints.
The first thing we had to do was to follow the instructions that the teachers gave us. Then we had to get our art books and choose an animal. Once we had chosen our animal we had to draw it and add patterns to the animal and the background. The animal that I had chosen was a shark with patterns in the background. Now we had to show the teacher our final drawing and we had been given a big piece of paper. Next step we had to do was to get a sketching pencil and draw everything that we drew on our animal and then had to grab another piece of paper and trace it. Now we are ready to print our picture! 
We had to go in the art room, grab a roller and choose a colour of ink then roll it and spread it on a board. After that, we had to line up the square that we had drawn onto the board with ink and carefully draw over it again. Once you take it off and it should come out good. We had to let it dry before we could add another colour. We could only choose 3 colours and 3 parts to colour in.  Now your mono print has finished!!!!

Talofa bloggers. On the 23 of July all of the students of Waikwohai Primary School did some

Matariki activities in their own classes. Some classes even had their Mum and dad over to eat lunch with them. I am in the class Waitemata in the seniors. All of the senior classes did a rotation. The rotation would start at your own class and you would go to the next class that is beside you. So the classes are Manukau, Hauraki and Waitemata(my class). The activities that each class did was Manukau did fried bread, Waitemata did stop motion of Maori stories and Hauraki did making kites. My most favorite activity was when we made the fried bread with Mrs Jones. This was my favorite because we got to make fried bread with just 2 step and you can make it at home and we also got to eat it.\

During week 9 in the middle block we did reading. For the reading we were doing some activities from our choice board. The thing that I chose was the Brown Brothers video. We had to write the poem that he was saying and why he made the poem. This poem about racism and we are currently learning about this as our inquiry topic. I think that he made the poem because people were mocking him about his skin colour and I think that it is good because he is standing up for himself. Everyone else chose to do this activity too because he was an inspiring speaker. It would be cool if you can leave a comment on my blog post and share your thoughts about this video!!!

LOCKDOWN CREATIONS

Talofa Bloggers, Today I am going to share you my learning that I have been doing. Past the week and the term we have been doing lock down creation. This week is week 8. The things we did were gardening, pizza and ice blocks and doing learning. There was only 4 slides that we did because one of them includes the queens birthday in England. This is probably the last Lock down creation we are doing and then we are going back to books.

Tooklkits

Welcome blogger, On the 18th of June Students of Te Waka Ako were chosen to participate in the Toolkits challenge. First of all we had a meeting with all of the other schools. We didn't get to go on the meeting because we had a bad connection. So since we didn't go on the meeting we just got straight into the meeting of the activities . So the first session we had to choose these activities which were Word cloud, Digital Portraits, Kahoot making and playing, Audiobooks, remove backgrounds and food bucket truck. All of these activities were  taught by the toolkits presenters. The one I chose was the remove background which was that we had to take a picture and go on remove png and it removes your background from your picture that you have taken. 

After we had finished our first session we had to take a picture of  your work that you have done and put it on you challenge slideshow and a brief descriptions. Then once we had finished that we had to go back into the hall and have another meeting and at first it worked but then it didn't work. We had to wear headphones when we went on a meeting. 

The next session was not until 11:45 I think. So we had to go back to Te Waka Ako to have some morning tea but we had to fill in a form. Now we are going back to the hall and we had to do session 2. Then we had to put the finished work on our slide show and that was the same for the session 3. I hope you liked my blog post!!

Ripper rugby

Hello bloggers my name is Peitynn. On the 17th of March 10 students were picked to go to Ripper rugby zone. So there were 4 girls and  6 boys that were in the team. Before we went to the game we had to get changed into our sports gear. after we had got changed we started to get our gear and head off to May Road War Memorial Park. Finally we are here at the May Road War memorial. So we looked around to find a spot to sit at. So when we had found a place to sit we had to take our jacket off and we started to train. But first we had to take a team photo of all of us  at the started and at the end we had to take another team photo. So when we were training we had to practice our passing and our steps when we got touch. Now we are having our first game. Our first game we versed was Hay Park 1. The weather was pretty cold but the sun came out. We played good and we had good sportsmanship in the game. After that we had many more games and we had 6 games. The last game was hard but we tried our best. We were so tired. But we got some ice block and it was so nice and cold. So it is time to go back to school. Hope you enjoyed!!! Blog you later!!! 

Portraits

Hi there my name is Peitynn. In week 5 and 6 Te Waka Ako have been doing Portraits. So when we had started out Portraits our teachers had to take a picture of us because one half was a practice one and the other one was our good copy. So we had to choose which copy was our good copy and our practice one. When we had got our faces we had to glue it in our art book because we had to practice drawing our patterns on the out background with out faces. Once we had finished that we had to choose a decade so that we could put it on the other side. Then we had to show a teacher our drawing and they tell us to go and get a good copy. After that we had to draw our patterns on our good copy and we had to draw the same patters the we had drawn in our art book. Once we had finished that we had to paint our patterns with different colors.  After we had finished painting we had to leave it some where to dry. After it had been all dried up we had to glue our other side of our faces and we had to glue it in. Now after that we had to draw our decades that we had chosen. After that the teachers made us a colour die to put on the background of our drawing. Once we had done that we started to colour in our drawing but we had to colour in very brightly so that it can be very bright. Now we are finally finished and the students who finished their portraits the other students had to guess which decade it was from.

Cybersmart

        Cybersmart Welcome bloggers. In week 3 Te Waka Ako had someone who came to teach s about cybersmart. The person who came to was going to teach us about our Chromebooks was Mr. Margets. Mr. Margets used to come to our school every Friday because he was a student teacher to help us with our blogs. So when Mr. Margets came in and he showed us a slide with what we should do with our Chromebook and showed us how to keep our Chromebooks safe. Before we started he showed us this new game called qizziz. This game called qizziz was a game where you have to see if you know how to look after you own Chromebook. So some people got 2 or 3 wrong and some people got 8 or 9 wrong but that was okay. So after we all played the game we started to do our cybersmart. So what we did for Cybersmart was we had to make a copy of this slide which was called what is the right place to be on during school and we had to right why it was the right place to be on. So one of the place you should be on was you own school site because this school site is where what you do when you are in you reading, writing and math and all of the other school stuff. Welcome back blogger to a New blog. On the 3th of december there was lady who was coming to our school to tell us about the Summer learning Journey. The lady who was coming to tell us about the Summer Learning Journey and her name was Megan. Megan told us all about how fun the Summer Learning Journey. She also showed us some prizes that you can win. She only show us the prizes that you could hold and you could also win big prizes. So Megan show us how to get on her blog. After we had seen her blog we were now going to do the Summer Learning Journey. So we started on any activity that we wanted. The activity that I did was that I had to write about Lorde. So I had to write all about Lorde and facts all about her. I really like doing this activities and it is really fun.
